OxyContin maker may seek bankruptcy protection

Purdue Pharma is exploring legal protections that would shield the company from allegations its drug OxyContin contributed to the U.S. opioid epidemic. The possible Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing would halt thousands of lawsuits alleging wrongdoing and put the matter — and perhaps the company’s fate — before a U.S. bankruptcy judge. (Reuters)
